About
Yunnan Moonlight White | 雲南月光白
Yunnan Moonlight White (Yue Guang Bai) gets its name from its curved, moon-like buds and striking dark-and-silver leaf contrast. This tea has been picked from 100-year-old tea trees in Jinggu, Yunnan. After daytime picking, fresh leaves are gently withered and dried indoors with warm air. This slower, low-light process encourages a touch of additional oxidation, deepening natural sweetness while preserving the tea’s clean, refreshing character.
In the cup, expect a smooth, creamy texture with soft floral aromas, honeyed hints, and a cooling finish. The profile is elegant yet comforting, with very low astringency and a clear, lingering sweetness. Sourced from old-tree material, this lot offers a rounded depth uncommon in standard white teas.
Yunnan Moonlight White is also prized for its aging potential. With proper storage, its color gradually deepens and flavors evolve toward a richer, sweeter profile reminiscent of a gentle black tea, while maintaining clarity. This is a versatile white tea you can enjoy now or cellar for later complexity.
