About

Dong Ting Bi Luo Chun (Green Snail Spring) | 洞庭碧螺春

A Tea Shaped by Nature and Craft

Bi Luo Chun or Biluochun, translated as “Green Snail Spring,” earns its poetic name from three distinct characteristics: its vibrant green color, the delicate snail-like spiral shape of each leaf, and its exclusive harvest during the early spring season. This legendary tea grows in the unique microclimate of Dong Ting Mountain, where the misty conditions from neighboring Lake Taihu create the perfect environment for cultivating tea leaves with exceptional fragrance and complexity.

Among China’s Most Celebrated Teas

Recognized as one of China’s “Ten Famous Teas”, Bi Luo Chun holds a special place in Chinese tea culture, and is regarded as one of the best green teas from China. The careful processing—which involves hand-rolling the leaves into tight snail-shaped spirals—preserves the delicate layer of fine white hairs on each leaf, a sign of superior quality and early spring harvest. When brewed, these spiral leaves slowly unfurl to release their full spectrum of flavors.

The Taste of Spring in Every Cup

The brewing experience of Bi Luo Chun is as remarkable as its appearance. The liquor presents a pale jade color with a refreshing aroma that hints at spring blossoms and sweet vegetables. On the palate, you’ll discover a light body with pronounced vegetal notes—often compared to fresh asparagus or sweet peas—complemented by a natural sweetness and a clean, satisfying finish that embodies the freshness of its spring harvest.
